OSU Story Lab Fellowships
This is an open call for applicants for an exciting new fellowship program based in the OSU Story Lab.
Are you a storyteller with a passion for science, research, and real-world impact? The OSU Story Lab Fellowship is your backstage pass to the cutting edge of discovery. We’re looking for curious, creative students—writers, filmmakers, podcasters, photographers—interested in embedding with research teams, labs and startups across the state, bringing their work to life through compelling stories.
As a Story Lab Fellow, you’ll spend up to four terms immersed in labs, field sites, companies, and research projects, producing multimedia stories that illuminate the human side of science. You’ll collaborate with professional journalists, faculty mentors, and fellow creatives to craft content that reaches real audiences, from campus publications to national media outlets.
This is more than an internship. It’s a launchpad for careers in science communication, journalism, documentary media, and public engagement. Whether you're studying writing, film, communications, or you’re a scientist-in-training, if you’re driven by curiosity and want to make research matter to the world, this fellowship is for you.
About the OSU Story Lab
The Story Lab is a research storytelling studio housed in the College of Liberal Arts. We partner with researchers, nonprofits, Tribal organizations, and government agencies to produce high-impact stories that advance public understanding and research visibility. Our work spans video, prose, photography, podcasts—and formats yet to be imagined. We’re pushing the boundaries of narrative and training the next generation of science communicators.
